The First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, advised the voters in the eastern district of Tema not to choose a skirt and blouse in the December elections, so that the President would be properly represented in Parliament.
At a mini-meeting in Kplejootsoshishi in Tema Newtown, Ms Akoufo-Addo explained that the nature of Ghanaian politics requires appropriate representation of the President in Parliament in order to easily adopt laws and legal instruments that facilitate his work.
That is why she said that those who claim to be loyal to the party and yet ask to vote for President Akoufo-Addo instead of the candidates for the JPA only undermine the fortune of the party.
Mrs Akoufo-Addo said this during a visit to the Eastern Thematic District in Greater Accra, accompanied by Nii Quartei Titit Glower, Member of Parliament of the Eastern Thematic District and Deputy Minister of Transport, Mrs Akua Owusu Afriyeh, sir. Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, Member of Parliament for the District of North Blekuma and member of the Board of Directors of TEMA, and Mr Ofoe Teye, President of the Eastern District of TEMA, as well as other senior party officials.
She said that a congressman like Titus Glover, who is highly respected by the president and can lead important constituency development projects, should be a source of motivation for people to vote for NPP candidates.
She mentioned some projects that have been carried out thanks to Mr Glover’s efforts, such as the improvement of the road network, the construction of a dormitory for the Tema Manhin Higher Technical School, the new NHIA office for Tema Manhin and the Titus Glover mini stadium.
In addition, support was given to the Astroturf Park, funded by the GPGV, in the thematic area of Manhain, which is 70% completed.
She praised Mr. Glover’s charitable work, including sponsoring some medical operations and providing higher education training to people in need in her constituency.
Mrs Akua Owusu Afriieh in turn thanked Mr Glover for his role in Parliament, based on his intelligence, honesty and kindness as the current chairman of the Accra Regional Parliamentary Committee.
Akwasi Agyeman, President of the Eastern Market of Tema, thanked President Akoufo-Addo for the measures taken to alleviate the impact of Kovid-19 on the population, including free water and electricity.
He thanked Mr Glover for using his good services to transform the former mass market into two large and decent health camps.
During her tour the First Lady met fishermen and fish traders at the European Fish Market to tell them the success story of the Akufo-Addo led government and encourage them to vote for the party in the upcoming elections.
On Oninku’s primary market in Tema’s first community, where she ended her tour with a mini-movement, Mrs Akoufo-Addo called on the public to join her and fulfill her civic duty by voting in large numbers to prevent President Akoufo-Addo from returning to Egypt.
