Prince William and Kate Middleton are considering moving to the Windsor Castle, the Queen’s official residence in England, as they plan their family life. The move would be a significant one for the royal family as it would be closer to the Queen than Buckingham Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are allegedly preparing their future housing as they prepare to take on more prominent responsibilities, according to British Royal family news. The happy parents of three are said to be “seriously considering” relocating to Windsor, putting them in close proximity to the Queen.
The Queen sees the Cambridges’ plan to move closer to Windsor as beneficial.
The reported move, which would put the Cambridges much closer to the Queen, would be the most telling indication that they are ready to take on a far more prominent position within the Royal Family.
According to a source, Prince William and Kate have been “eyeing up” home possibilities in the region that will accommodate their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Fort Belvedere, a Grade II listed mansion with a tower at the southern end of Windsor Great Park, where King Edward VIII – the Queen’s uncle – famously signed his abdication papers in 1936, is one of the sites under consideration, according to the source.
The Crown Estate owns the fort, which is leased to the Western Family, who are close friends of the Royal Family. On a clear day, Edward claimed, one could see St. Paul’s from the top of the tower “with a spyglass.”
Palace aides are said to have rejected the fort as a viable alternative.
As the monarchy prepares for significant changes in the coming years, moving the family west is viewed as a strategic and feasible option for the Cambridges.
For the time being, the Cambridges are dividing their time between Kensington Palace in London, where their office is located, and Anmer Hall in Norfolk, where they have a rural residence.
The Queen gave the newlyweds the house on the Sandringham Estate as a gift, and after refurbishing it, William and Kate made it their permanent residence from 2015 to 2017.
Because William worked as a helicopter pilot for the East Anglian Air Ambulance at the time, it was feasible for the couple to reside there, and it suited the couple’s intentions to give their children a regular childhood away from the public spotlight.
However, with the couple’s two oldest children attending London schools, they may decide to base the family in Windsor and travel to London as needed.
“Anmer Hall made sense when William was a helicopter pilot in East Anglia, and it was helpful for Christmases at Sandringham, but it doesn’t really function anymore,” the royal source said. Windsor is a good compromise for weekend trips since it’s a bit too far away. They’re looking at other possibilities in the area.”
There are other advantages to the relocation. It would put Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, closer to the family, who reside 40 miles away in Bucklebury, Berkshire, and are known to assist out with the kids on occasion.
The decision would undoubtedly benefit the 95-year-old queen, who has long maintained a strong connection with Prince William, after his death.

The Queen Will Reside In Windsor
The Queen has traditionally chosen Windsor as a weekend getaway and a break from her working week at Buckingham Palace for many years. However, after she returns from her customary summer vacation at Balmoral Castle, the queen is believed to have plans to make Windsor her permanent home.
During the lockdown, she and Prince Philip remained at Balmoral. This put her close to her youngest son Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, who reside nearby at Bagshot Park, and Prince Andrew, who lives with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at Royal Lodge.
The Queen will attend a number of high-profile engagements in October with members of the Royal Family. Opening the Sixth Session of Scottish Parliament with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will be one of the highlights of the coming weeks.
