Early Years

Todd Joseph Miller was born in Denver, Colorado on June 4th, 1981. T.J. had his first taste of acting while studying theater in high school, where he was raised by a clinical psychologist and an attorney in a family of Jewish heritage. He went to George Washington University in Washington, D.C. after graduating from high school. He majored in psychology and earned a bachelor’s degree with a focus in situation theory and social impact. During his undergraduate years, he continued to pursue his acting career. In Paris, he joined a student comedy company and studied circus skills. He also spent a summer at the British American Drama Academy in London, where he studied Shakespeare.

Miller’s initial ventures into the realm of entertainment were in stand-up comedy. He first went to Chicago, where he spent two years touring with The Second City. Many reviewers regarded him as one of the most promising young comics in the business by 2008. He landed his first television gigs at this time, beginning with “Chelsea Lately.” After that, he landed a 13-episode recurring role in “Carpoolers.”

T.J. appeared in a breakthrough role in the film “Cloverfield,” which was released in 2008. Miller only appeared on film for a few seconds, but it was an intriguing part. He did, however, portray the character who was in charge of the video camera throughout the narrative, thus his voice was nearly always heard by the audience. It was a huge box office success, grossing nearly $172 million on a comparatively modest $25 million budget. More film appearances followed, including a leading part in “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard” in 2009.

He also featured in Mike Judge’s film “Extract” that year. Miller subsequently went on to appear in “She’s Out of My League” in 2010 before starring in “Get Him to the Greek” later that year. T.J. had a busy year in 2010, as he also starred in the film “Unstoppable.” He also portrayed the character ‘Tuffnut’ in the animated film “How to Train Your Dragon,” which was released in 2010 and received an Oscar nomination. It also made almost $495 million on a $165 million budget.

He was doing stand-up on chat programs like “Conan” around this time. Miller subsequently debuted a stand-up special called “No Real Reason” on Comedy Central. In the same year, he released “Mash Up Audiofile,” a comedy CD. With films like “Our Idiot Brother” and “Rock of Ages,” he resumed his film career.

T.J. booked parts in films including “Transformers: Age of Extinction” in 2014. In addition, he was cast in a recurring role on the highly acclaimed TV program “Silicon Valley.” He received the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on this program. In 2014, he made a step forward in his voice acting career by portraying Fred in the animated blockbuster “Big Hero 6.” T.J. had more voice acting parts in movies like “The Emoji Movie” over the following few years, and he also became renowned for portraying “Weasel” in the “Deadpool” movies. He has a minor part in Steven Spielberg’s “Ready Player One” in 2018.

Over the course of his career, T.J. Miller has been engaged in a number of scandals. He was arrested in Los Angeles in 2016 for reportedly attacking an Uber driver. The brawl was reportedly sparked by a discussion about Donald Trump. T.J. was subsequently reported to have negotiated an undisclosed deal with the driver.

T.J. Miller was accused of sexual assault by a former student at George Washington University with T.J. Miller in 2017. At the time, the “Me Too” movement was at its peak. Miller reportedly got aggressive with the lady during a sexual encounter in 2001, according to the woman’s claims. During the meeting, she said he strangled and struck her without her permission. Miller rejected the claims and even accused the lady of using fake charges to undermine the Me Too movement.

In 2017, it was also revealed that Miller sent an email with transphobic themes. Originally, a transgender individual sought to bring attention to the fact that Miller’s website included transphobic insults. Miller seems to have repeated the transphobic insults in his response, referring to her by her “dead name” many times.

T.J. Miller was arrested on federal charges in 2018 for allegedly fabricating a fake bomb threat aboard an Amtrak train. While flying from Washington, D.C. to New York City, he reportedly claimed that a female passenger had a bomb in her luggage. He was extremely drunk and aggressive towards another lady on the train at the time, according to witnesses. He eventually agreed to a plea bargain, and the charges were dropped. In 2018, he was also accused of creating a hostile work environment on set by his former “Silicon Valley” co-star Alice Wetterlund. He was described to as a “bully and petulant brat” by her.
